Howard Chang, MSN, PMHNP-BC
PSYCHIATRIC NURSE PRACTITIONER
(he/him/honey)
avid cook, travel lover, always listening to something new
A Michigan native, Howard is a graduate of Oakland University and Wayne State University where he received his Bachelor of Science in Nurse (BSN) and his Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) respectively. As a Registered Nurse and a Board Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, he has always worked with a diverse population whether it was inpatient hospitals, community mental health, partial hospitalization programs, or outpatient clinics.
When it comes to his focus on Psychiatry and Mental Health, he believes there's immense value in listening to other people's lived experiences and that being immersed in the specialty of maternal mental health helps clinicians provide more well rounded care and ultimately helps make them better clinicians, teachers, partners, and human beings.
Both his Mother and Stepmother are some of the most influential and important people in his life. Seeing the love and care they took raising him while learning a new culture and language was an incredibly inspiring thing to witness. He has a deep respect for all it takes to be a mother and a parent, and desires to pay it forward and give back to the community in his work.
When not seeing clients at Honey, Howard enjoys teaching and mentoring Nursing Students at Oakland University, and watching movies with his partner and their two dogs.
