What is IFS (Internal Family Systems)?
If you’ve ever thought, “One part of me wants to say no, but another part feels guilty,”—you already speak IFS.
Internal Family Systems, or IFS, is a type of therapy that helps you get to know your inner family: all the different parts of you that try to keep you safe, loved, and in control. Some parts want to please everyone. Some want to run away. Some are tired of holding it all together.
IFS isn’t about fixing or silencing any of those parts. It’s about helping them feel seen, understood, and supported by your core self—the grounded, calm, compassionate center that lives beneath all the noise.
At Honey, we use IFS to help people stop fighting their inner world and start leading it. That might mean noticing the part that feels overwhelmed every time your kid cries, or the part that shuts down when your partner gets close. We get curious about those parts—where they came from, what they’re trying to protect—and we help them soften once they feel safe again.
